Adare Cleveland laid to rest

FORT RICHARDSON, Alaska -- A funeral was held today to remember an Anchorage soldier killed in Iraq. Pfc. Adare Cleveland died when an improvised explosive device detonated near his vehicle in Baghdad on Feb. 19.

Today, his family and friends remembered the 20-year-old West High School graduate at the Anchorage Baptist Temple.

Cleveland joined the military in 2005 and served in the Army's 2nd Brigade Combat Team. Friends say Cleveland was an extremely caring man who was always quick to help a friend.

"It's been really hard. Seeing them wheeling the casket by was really hard. I miss him a lot and he's changed, helped us both in more ways than we can imagine. He was such a sweet heart," said Jackie Dato, Cleveland's girlfriend.

Cleveland was buried at Fort Richardson National Cemetery.
